Apply to OYU

Complete and submit the application form along with your supporting documents. 

Make sure to submit your application on time. The deadline for bachelor's and master's applicants is September 1, 2022; however, for foundation students is November 15, 2022. 

List of the documents

  • Application for Admission Form (click to download)
  • Higher Secondary School Certificate (duly legalized or Apostilled)
  • Academic Transcripts of Records (duly legalized or Apostilled)
  • Statement of Purpose

(Statement of Purpose should include the major you are planning to study, your supportive ideas about why you want to learn in that specific field, and your thoughts on how you think it will contribute to your future.)

  •  Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume

(Please make sure that your Curriculum Vitae includes your personal information, educational background, skills/abilities and hobbies/interests)

  • Certificates, diplomas and any other related documents (if available);
  • Medical Examination Certificate

(Medical certificate and AIDS analyzing test given by the health authorities of student's country)

  • Six photos (3x4 cm);

(Photos should be passport size and be taken within the last six months maximum)

  • Copy of the Passport

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:  All documents issued in another language must be translated into Azerbaijani by an official translation service.

English Proficiency

If English is not a student's first language, or if their previous education was in another language, students will be required to demonstrate proficiency.

Use a Valid Email Address.

When you apply, be sure to use a valid email address, as the Admission Department of OYU will use this email address to contact you throughout the admission process.

OYU provides full support for international students visiting the university for education, research, teaching or other purposes. Support services include:

  • Visa application
  • Accommodation service
  • Immigration services
  • Orientation programs
  • Extension of academic stay for valid reasons
  • Counseling related to emergencies and unexpected immigration issues.

Apply for Visa

Foreigners travelling to Azerbaijan for study have to get a relevant visa (except for the citizens of the countries applying for a visa-free-regime with Azerbaijan) from the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan accredited in their countries)

To commence your study at OYU, we recommend you start the visa application procedure without delay. We will provide you with the admission letter and assistance in applying for a visa. For specific visa procedures and documents checklist, please contact the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in your country. 

We recommend you apply for a study visa for three months. Also, expatriates are required to be registered at the Migration Service within 15 days after entering the borders of Azerbaijan.

Apply for Residence Permit

Foreigners are required to get a temporary residence permit from the State Migration Service at least one month before the expiration of their visa. Upon completing each academic year, the university will apply for an extension of the residency permit. 

The temporary residence permit allows you to enter/exit the borders of Azerbaijan for the specified duration without the necessity of applying for a visa.
