Today marks the anniversary of the death of the architect of Azerbaijan’s independence and development, a leader who left an indelible mark on the history of our people, with every step of his forming lasting memories in the hearts of our nation.

Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader, was not only a politician but also the founder of Azerbaijan's national statehood, and the leader of the people’s struggle for freedom and independence. Under his leadership, Azerbaijan transformed into an independent and powerful state. The true great mission of National Leader Heydar Aliyev began after Azerbaijan gained independence.

When Heydar Aliyev returned to power in 1993, the country was divided, its economy and social structures collapsed, and it was under external pressures. However, under his leadership, Azerbaijan's political and economic situation was quickly restored. He strengthened Azerbaijan's position internationally, bringing our country to prominence on both regional and global scales. Heydar Aliyev’s legacy created a historic path not only for the state but also for the progress of the people.

Under his leadership, Azerbaijan’s energy resources were introduced to the global market, and strategically significant projects were implemented. The greatest legacy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was his tireless efforts to protect Azerbaijan’s independence and territorial integrity. His decisions regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict demonstrated the strength of a leader with great resolve. With his vision for the future of his people, he continued to fight for every right of the Azerbaijani people on the international stage.

Heydar Aliyev also laid the foundation for human rights, freedoms, and civil society. He ensured the establishment of social justice, the rule of law, and democratic principles in the country.
