As Odlar Yurdu University and Odlar Yurdu College, we commemorate March 31st – Azerbaijani Genocide Day, with deep respect and reverence. This day marks one of the most tragic and painful moments in the history of the Azerbaijani people. In March 1918, the genocide of Azerbaijanis, carried out on Azerbaijani soil, became one of the most horrific crimes ever committed against our nation.
March 31st is not just a day to remember a tragedy but also a symbol of our people’s struggle and patriotism. In 1918, Armenian Dashnaks and Bolshevik forces carried out a ruthless genocide against Azerbaijanis in Baku and other regions, resulting in the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians. These events were not only a crime against the Azerbaijani people but also a crime against humanity.
Despite the physical and emotional trauma caused by the genocide, the spirit of resistance in the Azerbaijani people could not be broken. The martyrs who lost their lives during this tragedy became symbols of the struggle for the freedom and independence of Azerbaijan. They did not just sacrifice their lives, but they became a representation of the collective will of an entire nation.
As Odlar Yurdu University and Odlar Yurdu College, we continue to spread awareness of the importance of this tragedy, to keep the memory of those who lost their lives on March 31st alive, and to remain loyal to their struggle and patriotic spirit. Our goal is not only to remember this tragedy as an event in history but to keep it alive as a symbol of our people’s unity and strength.
Today, on the anniversary of the March 31st genocide, we bow our heads in honor of the martyrs and keep their heroic spirit alive. We are confident that the memory of this tragedy will contribute to the continuation of the struggle for independence and freedom and will be passed down to future generations.
May all the martyrs of March 31st rest in peace, and may their souls be blessed! Their memory will forever live in the hearts of Odlar Yurdu University and Odlar Yurdu College.
