A commemoration event dedicated to the victims of repression was held at Odlar Yurdu University.

A meaningful event titled “Victims of Repression” was held at Odlar Yurdu University, organized by the “Writers’ Club” operating under the Student Trade Union Organization. The event was dedicated to the memory of prominent Azerbaijani writers who fell victim to political repression.
This event held particular significance both in preserving historical memory and in fostering a creative and patriotic spirit among students.
The ceremony began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a minute of silence in honor of the enlightened Azerbaijani writers who perished during the repression period. A short documentary was then screened, offering the audience a powerful visual insight into the painful realities of that era.
Chairman of the Student Trade Union Organization, Hasan Gurbanli, delivered an opening speech, outlining the purpose of the event and highlighting the importance of nurturing young people in line with national and spiritual values.
Talented students of the university then presented thoughtful speeches about prominent figures of Azerbaijani literature such as Huseyn Javid, Mikayil Mushfig, Jafar Jabbarli, Ahmad Javad, and Ali Yusif, reflecting on the ideological depth and lasting legacy of their work. Active students such as Aynur Karimova, Nigar Ismayilova, Khoshgadam Mammadova, Sama Hajibalayeva, and Sofia Agayeva stood out with their heartfelt performances.
The event also featured musical performances. Samad Muradov performed “Long Live My Love”, while Rahila Dadashova delivered an emotional rendition of “The Black Sea Was Stirring.”
One of the most striking moments of the program was a literary composition titled “The Sound of Silence”, presented by students. This artistic performance conveyed the tragic truths of the repression era with deep emotional impact.
In her closing speech, Mrs. Nurida Muxtarizade, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Languages, praised the organization of the event and emphasized that nurturing students in the spirit of national identity holds a central place in the educational mission of Odlar Yurdu University.
