Within the framework of the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty", Odlar Yurdu University hosted a conference titled "The victory that changed the fate of Azerbaijan", dedicated to June 15 – National Salvation Day.
The event began with the playing of the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a minute of silence in memory of the national leader Heydar Aliyev. A video clip prepared by the students, highlighting the historical significance of National Salvation Day, was then screened.
In his opening speech, OYU’s vice-rector for educational affairs and new teaching technologies, associate professor Qabil Qafarov, described National Salvation Day as a turning point that laid the foundation for political stability, national unity, and the development path of modern Azerbaijan. He emphasized the historic significance of Heydar Aliyev’s mission of salvation and stressed the importance of youth remaining loyal to these ideals and preserving them for the future of society.
Students from various disciplines later delivered speeches on the historical and moral value of National Salvation Day. They underlined the decisive role of the June 1993 events in the fate of the Azerbaijani statehood and noted that the wise and determined leadership of Heydar Aliyev, who returned to power at the call of the people, saved the country from chaos and put it on the path of stability and progress. Their speeches reflected a deep sense of commitment to independence, loyalty to statehood, and great respect for the ideals of the national leader.
At the end of the conference, students who had demonstrated active participation in the university’s social and cultural life were awarded certificates in recognition of their valuable contributions.
