A Practical Conference on "Tourism Horizons of COP 29" Held at Odlar Yurdu University

On October 23, 2024, a practical conference on "Tourism Horizons of COP 29" was held at Odlar Yurdu University. The event began with a flower-laying ceremony at the bust of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and continued with the performance of the national anthem.
The opening speech was delivered by a member of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly), Prof. Samir Valiyev. In his speech, he discussed the new prospects that COP 29 would bring to Azerbaijan's tourism strategy. Prof. Valiyev emphasized that Azerbaijan would strengthen its position in the global tourism sector and that such international events play a significant role in promoting the country's rich tourism potential on an international scale. He also noted that Odlar Yurdu University actively participates in organizing such conferences, contributing to both the academic and practical development of the tourism sector.
The conference continued with panel sessions. The first panel was dedicated to the topic "The State Tourism Strategy and Associative Cooperation on the Eve of COP 29," moderated by Jeyhun Ashurov. Speakers included representatives of the State Tourism Agency, heads of tourism associations, and hotel managers. The discussions focused on the projects implemented by the government in the tourism sector and the role of tourism associations in this process.
The second panel was devoted to the topic "The Azerbaijan Model in Expanding International Tourism Relations," moderated by Sabina Aliyeva, Deputy Head of the "International Relations and Tourism" Department at Odlar Yurdu University. This panel discussed Azerbaijan's efforts to develop international tourism relations and the models it has implemented.
The conference concluded with a coffee break for the participants.
