The 33rd Anniversary of the Khojaly Genocide Commemorated at Odlar Yurdu University

On February 26, a conference was held at Odlar Yurdu University to mark the 33rd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide. The event began with the national anthem, followed by a moment of deep respect for the martyrs who gave their lives for the freedom of our homeland.
The opening speech was delivered by professor Samir Valiyev, a member of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan. He highlighted that the tragedy in Khojaly, which occurred at the end of the 20th century, was one of the most brutal acts of violence directed not only against the Azerbaijani people but also against humanity as a whole. Professor Samir Valiyev emphasized the importance of international recognition of this historical injustice and the legal evaluation of genocide crimes. He also noted that during the 44-day Patriotic War, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Army avenged the martyrs of Khojaly and restored the territorial integrity of the country.
The event continued with speeches dedicated to the tragedy of Khojaly. Students recited poems dedicated to the Khojaly genocide, shared excerpts from witnesses' memories, and presented important historical facts about the tragedy. In their speeches, they stressed that the memory of this event will never be erased from the minds of the Azerbaijani people, and that the international community must recognize the Khojaly genocide.
At the end of the event, participants once again honored the memory of the Khojaly victims and all Azerbaijani martyrs with deep sorrow and respect.
